Uxbridge Stabbing Today-Footage Shows Man in Psychotic State as Three People Are Attacked in Knife Horror
Disturbing CCTV footage has captured the moments a knife-wielding man went on a stabbing rampage in Uxbridge, west London, leaving one man dead and two others injured. The shocking attack, which unfolded in October 2025, has returned to public attention following the court’s decision to place the attacker in a secure psychiatric hospital indefinitely. Dawood Safi, 28, carried out the attacks in Midhurst Gardens on October 27, 2025.
The incident began at a residential property before escalating into a violent confrontation on the street, where members of the public attempted to protect those in danger. The Metropolitan Police were called at approximately 4:55 p.m. after receiving reports that three people had been stabbed. Officers arrived alongside emergency medical teams and confronted Safi, who was still carrying a knife. He refused to drop the weapon and was eventually brought under control after officers used a Taser.
CCTV Captures Terrifying Moments of the Attack
Footage released during the investigation shows Safi moving along a residential street while holding a knife and approaching members of the public. Residents can be seen emerging from their homes as the danger unfolds. In one sequence, a woman attempts to drive him away from her property using what appears to be a bat. Other residents are heard warning people to stay back and run as the attacker moves towards them.
The footage also captures police officers arriving and ordering Safi to drop the weapon. After he refuses, officers deploy a Taser, bringing the incident to an end and allowing emergency responders to reach the victims. Witness accounts and evidence presented in court described Safi as appearing deeply disturbed during the rampage. Medical assessments later established that he had been experiencing psychotic depression and paranoid delusions at the time.
Three People Stabbed in Uxbridge
One of the victims was Wayne Broadhurst, 49, who was walking his dog when he encountered Safi in the street. He was attacked in what prosecutors described as a random and unprovoked assault. Despite emergency treatment, Broadhurst died at the scene. His family later paid tribute to him, describing him as a kind, caring and loving man who meant everything to those close to him. They also remembered his passion for Liverpool Football Club and the happiness he brought to family and friends.
A second victim, Safi’s landlord, Shahzad Farrukh, sustained serious stab wounds, including injuries to his neck and chest and a punctured lung. A teenage boy, aged 14 at the time, was also injured after intervening during the confrontation. Both survivors required medical attention. Farrukh suffered life-changing injuries, while the teenager’s injuries were not considered life-threatening or life-changing.
Court Orders Indefinite Hospital Detention
Safi later pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility in connection with Broadhurst’s death. A jury also found him guilty of attempting to murder Farrukh. He admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm against the teenage boy and possession of an offensive weapon. Medical experts concluded that Safi was suffering from psychotic depression and delusional beliefs that substantially impaired his ability to exercise self-control and make rational judgments.
On October 5, 2026, a judge imposed an indefinite hospital order with restrictions, meaning Safi must remain in a secure psychiatric facility and cannot be released unless the relevant authorities and mental health specialists consider it safe. The Uxbridge stabbing rampage remains a devastating incident for the victims, their families and the wider community. Broadhurst’s death, the injuries suffered by the survivors and the frightening scenes captured on CCTV have left a lasting mark on those affected.
